Getting a new house constructed is a tedious job. Every procedure and each detail costs great amount and proper planning is required to maintain the budget set for the entire construction. It is important to learn few basics about house construction before commencing new construction, this way you can shave off some amount from the expenditures required.

Below are some principle steps that are required in constructing a new house.

1) Plan Your Budget: It is the first part of your construction procedure. Develop a budget plan for your house construction. Roughly calculate your financing capabilities and available savings. In most cases, the house owners plan their budget themselves, but you can also opt for professional help from an architect, if required.

2) Designing: For this part of the construction process, house owners generally hire an architect. Professional assistance is essential to create blueprints of the building in question. This in turn is important to obtain a permit to build a house. Design developed is determined by the use of building codes. It is also designed keeping in mind the house owners spending capacity and budget preferences. Several drafts are created until the blueprints are approved by the homeowner. His satisfaction with the design is important.

3) Earthwork and Permits: If you are getting a building constructed then it is important to acquire building permit. So, once you are ready with the designs or the blueprints of the house, get a permit. Getting a permit is a long procedure. Sometimes a contractor or builder hired for the construction of the house, completes this procedure, but it is easier to file for the permit and then look around for the desired contractor. After it is approved, prepare your land for basic construction work, for instance, smoothing or grading the area through excavation or filling, digging for the foundation, footer and several other installations. A utility line, if required is also added at this time.

4) Framing: Foundations and footers are made of masonry or concrete, which is essential to keep up the building weight. After its completion, the ground floor can be built with concrete or wood. On completion of the floor, framing begins. Framing is like a skeleton of the house. It includes structural components like metal or wood beams and studs. The framework gives you an idea of the basic structure and look of the house. Addition of electrical and mechanical rough-ins like, piping, ductwork or wiring is completed at this stage.

5)  Finishing: Now the other elements are added. Drywall, cladding, floors and ceilings are added to the framework. Windows and doors are installed thereafter and connections to the HAVC units are completed. Roof construction is later followed by vapor and moisture barriers installation. After this, the finishing begins. It includes, paint, floor coverings, cabinets, woodwork and interior doors. Once all is done, your house is complete.

Occupancy certificate will be granted after complete inspection and assurance of building's safety and security.
